Clinical Hypnosis: What It Is and What It Isn't

Clinical Hypnosis is a powerful therapeutic tool that uses focused attention to support emotional healing, break unwanted patters, and create lasting change. It is not about losing control, but gaining deeper access to the inner workings of the mind in a purposeful and guided way. In my practice, hypnosis is always used collaboratively with clear, agreed upon goals.

What Clinical Hypnosis is:

A state of focused, intentional attention. Hypnosis is similar to the kind of mental focus you experience when you are deeply absorbed in prayer, worship, reading a good book, being so involved in a movie that you feel like you are there, or being so absorbed in thought that you forget all the steps you took to drive home. Our brains are wired to go into this state naturally.

Hypnosis invited the whole self; mind, body and spirit into alignment. Rather than just “thinking differently” hypnosis creates a “felt sense” of change which is more deeply rooted and impactful than surface level insights.

Clinical hypnosis targets the emotional brain which is where stored beliefs, habits and emotional responses reside. Many of these things happen below cognitive awareness. By engaging this part of the deeper mind, clients often experience new possibilities, release stuck patters, and reinforce truths.

Clinical hypnosis enhances your ability to respond to your thoughts and experiences with clarity and choice. Contrary to the myths out there about Clinical Hypnosis, it is not mind control. Clients remain alert, aware and capable of stopping the process at any time

Clinical hypnosis is always done for an agreed upon purpose. Unlike Mindful Meditation, the goal is not to simply notice your thoughts, or try to clear your thoughts. The goal of hypnosis is always to adjust, correct, or give new insights on issues. Each session is guided by your personal goals, your values, and your readiness. Together, we seek to realign your internal experience with truth and wholeness.

WHAT CLINICAL HYPNOSIS IS NOT:

As stated before, Clinical Hypnosis is not mind control, a mystical (or magical) state, a sleeping state, or unconsciousness. Because memory is fallible, it is also not used in my practice to recover any type of "repressed" memory. It is a natural state that we all experience in our daily lives. In my practice, it is used to create an experience where you to engage intentionally with truth, with what is possible, and what is appealing or in your best interests. This often involves visualizing it, feeling it and anchoring it deep within you. Clinical Hypnosis is different from "Stage" Hypnosis (which is intended for entertainment purposes only.) Clinical Hypnosis is a collaborative process that is used for agreed upon goals that are tailored to you and your specific needs.

Research has shown over the past several years, that Clinical Hypnosis administered on a virtual platform is equally as effective as being in person. All of my services, including Hypnosis, are offered through virtual sessions only.

Unfortunately, Hypnosis is not a service that is covered by insurance. Therefore, it is private pay only.
